Best SEO Tools Under $100 a Month

You can no longer buy an entry plan from Semrush, SE Ranking or Ahrefs Lite for under $100 a month. On September 24, 2026, Semrush's entry SEO plan was $117.33 a month billed annually ($139 monthly), SE Ranking's Core plan was $103.20 billed annually ($129 monthly), and Ahrefs Lite was $108 billed annually ($129 monthly).

That leaves two routes: a cheaper suite with tighter limits, or a stack of single-purpose tools. This guide prices both from the vendors' own pages, then combines them into stacks that stay under the line.

Two cheaper doors exist: Ahrefs lists a $29 Starter plan for seeing what people search and researching competitors, and Moz lists a $49 entry plan for one website. Neither replaces the full suite, but both fit under $100 with room left for other tools.

Watching your own site

Google Search Console shows which queries bring users to your site, plus your impressions, clicks and average position on Google Search, and it lets you submit sitemaps and individual URLs. It has no subscription fee, and it answers the first question every site owner has: what is already happening? Ahrefs' free plan adds Ahrefs data on your own site. Neither shows you competitors, which is what the paid tools are for.

Keyword research and rank tracking

Mangools Basic is $18.85 a month billed yearly ($226.20 up front) or $30.50 billed monthly. It lists 100 keyword lookups and 20 site analyses per 24 hours, 200 tracked keywords with weekly rank updates and 100,000 backlink lookups a month. It also includes AI Search Watcher with 500 monitored prompts. No extra seats are available on Basic. It stops fitting when you track more than 200 keywords or need daily updates; the Agency plan lists daily.

Moz Pro Standard is $79 a month billed yearly or $99 billed monthly. It includes one user, 3 tracked sites, 300 tracked keywords a month, 400,000 crawled pages a month and 2 AI content briefs a month. Pass if you run a single site and don't need the extra tracking: Moz's own $49 entry plan is aimed at one website, and Mangools Basic costs less.

Crawling and technical checks

Screaming Frog is free for up to 500 URLs. The paid license is $279 a year per user and removes the URL limit, which then depends on your machine's memory. That is $23.25 a month, billed annually only. You don't need the paid license if your site has under 500 URLs. For a one-off check without installing anything, the free SEO audit crawls up to 100 pages with no account.

Content help

Frase Starter is $39 a month billed yearly or $49 monthly. It includes 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix. NeuronWriter Bronze is $19 billed yearly or $23 monthly for 2 projects and 25 content writer analyses a month. Silver ($37 yearly, $45 monthly) lists 5 projects and 50 analyses. Surfer Discovery is $49 billed yearly for 120 documents and 10 tracked pages. Frase and NeuronWriter each offer a 7-day trial. Wait on all three if you publish rarely: the fee buys little until you have a steady publishing rhythm.

[SEO Engine](/for-solo-operators) Starter is ours, and it works differently: it runs research, outline, draft and publishing as one pipeline instead of scoring drafts you write yourself. It is $49 a month, and its pricing page shows monthly prices only, noting that annual billing is a discount. Starter lists 12 generated articles a month, one brand kit, publishing to WordPress or Shopify, a Content Calendar and Search Console insights. Growth is $89 for 30 articles, 3 brand kits and Auto-Pilot scheduling. The free plan generates one article a month with no card, which is enough to test the pipeline on a real keyword. Every article can stop at a draft for your review, and the outline is editable before drafting. Pass if you would rather write the posts yourself: the plans meter generated articles, not analyses of your own drafts.

Start from the free baseline, then add one tool at a time. The first four stacks each build on the one before; the last swaps the writing tool for a publishing pipeline.

Annual billing is cheaper per month but costs more at once. The deep-crawling stack on annual billing is $226.20 for Mangools, $468 for Frase Starter and $279 for Screaming Frog, which is $973.20 a year paid up front.

• Tracked keywords. Mangools Basic lists 200 and Moz Standard lists 300. Semrush's entry plan lists 500 and SE Ranking Core lists 2,000, both above $100.
• Update frequency. Mangools Basic lists weekly rank updates. Daily arrives on its Agency plan.
• Articles a month. SEO Engine Starter generates 12 and Growth generates 30. Frase Starter lists 10, and NeuronWriter Bronze lists 25 analyses.
• Seats. Mangools Basic has no extra seats and Moz Standard includes one user. Ahrefs Lite includes one and adds two more at $40 a month each.

Most of these limits have a cheaper fix than switching tools: the next plan up from the same vendor. Mangools shows it clearly, because its three plans differ on exactly the limits that bite.

Agency at $48.85 billed yearly still leaves room under $100 for a writing tool and a crawler. The point is to hit a limit before you pay for the tool that removes it.

SEO Engine's figures come from its own public pricing page, read the same way. We did not run hands-on tests, so we make no claim about data accuracy. Keyword volumes and difficulty scores differ between tools, and we did not measure which is closer to the truth.

Two tools are missing on purpose: we could not read plan prices on Ubersuggest's pricing page, and SEO PowerSuite's order page was running a timed sale with a countdown, so we left it out instead of quoting a discount that changes daily.

• A new site with little traffic: stay on the free baseline. Search Console needs time to collect data, and a paid tracker has little to track yet.
• Publishing every week: the second and third stacks. Add the writing tool only once posts are going out on a schedule.
• Publishing on a schedule with little time to write: the fourth stack. SEO Engine Starter's 12 articles a month covers a weekly rhythm, and you approve each outline before it drafts.
• A site over 500 URLs: buy Screaming Frog's license before you buy anything else, since the free crawl stops at 500.
• More than one site or client: check the project caps first, because they usually decide the plan before the price does.
